How does making avatars affect your sense of identity?
“From an early age, creating digital avatars and 'reflections of self' have been a running theme in my life. Growing up in the 2000's online platforms such as Stardoll and eLouai were where I felt most at home, but the lack of diverse options provided by these platforms always made me feel left out. Cyberspace was always sold as a medium to recreate yourself as you wish or represent yourself in your true form, but if you aren't able to even simply pick out your own skin color or hair texture this falls short. By recreating myself through my art, my possibilities are endless.”
